Time to Learn

So, who says we have to learn from cover to cover in our history book?

I bought a history curriculum that I am thrilled with. It gives me ideas for hands on activities and extra books and such. I need the extra help because I simply hate history. So I have a very hard time teaching it to my children. Even with the great curriculum I have.

Hunter asked me about The Great Depression the other day. Sad to say, I do not know much about it. So, I thought we would do some research and both learn. However, this adds an extra lesson to our already hectic days and I found myself putting it off. Then light dawned on marble head!

I don't have to do a cover to cover lesson. Who needs to learn about Nomads andyway. When something interrests us...Just do it! If you are interrested about something you are going to take it in more and you are going to enjoy doing it.

So, that is my lesson for the day. Hope you can learn from it too. There is no need to be depressed about learning about The Great Depression by doing it when the book says to. Learn it when your child says it's time to! Learn when it's time to learn.

A Sad, Sad Day

So, just when I thought today would be uneventful, one of the worst things has happened.

Our cat, Smudge, that we have had for over 10 years has to be put down. Since he is in a lot of pain we are going this afternoon to the vet down the road to have them "take care" of him.

Mark and I have had Smudge since just before we found out we were going to be parents. He has been wonderful to cuddle with and great to laugh at. We have many fond memories.

We will miss Smudge very much, but do not want him to suffer here.

So... good bye friend.

Just the cold

Well, after all, it is November. It's cold. The snow should be flying, but that is Just My Take!
